re3 sweeps MRW National Recycling Awards shortlist as finalist for four awards
The re3 partnership, of Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils and FCC Environment, has been recognised as a finalist during this year’s National Recycling Awards.
Both re3 Recycling Centres, Longshot Lane in Bracknell and Smallmead in Reading have been shortlisted in the Best Recycling Facility of the Year category. re3 is also delighted to receive a recognition for our work with the industry leading recycling app, re3cyclopedia. The app has been nominated in Local Authority Success and Innovation Technology categories.
Both re3 Recycling Centres, operated by FCC Environment showcased an excellent service and their recycling performance, achieving over 70% recycling rate, and a high satisfaction score of 98% from visitors. re3 highlighted its achievements in series of initiatives such as: a new trade waste scheme for small local business who are looking to recycle or dispose of their commercial waste; or growing popularity of the re3grow, a compost made from the recycled garden waste. In addition, it’s been noted an excellent performance of the Reuse and Donation Areas that allowed to divert almost 600 tonnes of waste and 4,000 bikes, generating savings in the disposal cost for the councils and helping to raise over £17,000 for the Sue Ryder charity.
The re3cyclopedia app that is currently perceived as the most detailed recycling search tool in the UK, with a searchable database of over 9,500 items has been noted for its high performance. An upcoming upgrade to barcode reading technology will allow residents to scan the barcode on products, boosting engagement and helping everyone to recycle correctly. Since its launch the app has been downloaded by over 10,000 residents and contributes to the increase of recycling knowledge amongst residents.
MRW’s National Recycling Awards is the biggest recognition in the waste industry sector and has been established more than 20 years ago. The Awards ceremony will take place in December
