Why should I recycle?
Recycling saves money, benefits the environment, helps the economy and creates jobs. Around 70% of the rubbish that we throw away can be recycled – much of this, at home, through your kerbside recycling collection.
Visit our Material Recycling Facility
We want to help residents learn about the importance of recycling. Visit re3 Material Recycling Facility in Reading to find out what happens to your recycling after it’s been collected from your doorstep.
Visits are FREE for all university and community groups from the re3 area – Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Boroughs. (Please note – under 18’s are not permitted on site due to Health and Safety).
Recycling vs Climate Change
The environmental impacts of our waste are undeniable. Waste in landfills can create methane gas that is a large contributor to global warming. Incinerating our waste is also troublesome as burning materials produces toxic substances.
However, there is a solution. Recycling saves resources and energy by eliminating the need to extract raw materials resulting in reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change.
