re3 Pop-up Reuse Shop

A Reuse Pop-Up Shop is a sale event for second-hand household items, currently held at the re3 Recycling Centres in Bracknell and Reading. During these events, residents can purchase pre-loved items at bargain prices, including furniture, toys, sports equipment, and bric-a-brac. The profits from these events are donated to charity, helping to support local causes.

Many consumer goods are designed for single-use or short-term use, contributing to a throwaway culture. This not only increases waste but also places unnecessary pressure on natural resources. Additionally, people often have items they no longer need but aren’t sure how to dispose of them responsibly. re3 provides an opportunity for residents to engage in two ways: by donating unwanted items for reuse (simply leaving them at designated spaces on-site) or by purchasing second-hand goods at the pop-up events, giving these items a second life.

Why is it important?

The Reuse Pop-Up Shop allows people to extend the life of their unused items. Each event helps re3 “rescue” over a tonne of waste, reducing disposal costs and making a positive environmental impact. On average, each event attracts around 250 attendees and results in the sale of approximately 500 items. More importantly, these events create social value, as the profits go to support a local charity, benefiting the community.
